Motor Fuel Aging:
Some things age
gracefully, but fuel doesn't. Fuel ages because it
becomes "chemically unstable". So what is the result of
this aging process and incomplete combustion? Your fleet
vehicles do not perform as designed. During an
electrical power failure, emergency generators often
start, sputter and then fail to operate under the full
electrical load of your facility. Remember that
emergency generator test on Monday? Is your generator
ready to perform? What usually happens is that the full
building load is being tested. The good news is, this
aging process can be halted and even reversed. We offer
recommendations and/or solutions for restoring the fuel.
To ensure your fuel supply and delivery, we suggest you
consider a Fuel
Management Plan prepared by the EPC team.
Fuel testing and analysis has become a very important
part of our day-to-day lives and can get right to the
heart of a problem with operation of your vehicle or
stationary generator. The dramatic changes that have
occurred in formulations from gasoline to diesel have
affected all of us. If you are having trouble with
performance it could be the fuel you’re using. Injector
deposits and worn fuel pumps could be fuel related.
Worse yet, someone may have vandalized your fuel tank
without you knowing.
